"There's an old saying that once you're three years removed from the actual installation of whatever industry you're working at, you start losing touch with the industry itself," Patrick reflects. This sentiment underscores our commitment at Sterling Lighting to stay hands-on and involved in the industry we serve. Despite our growth, we continue to "keep our hands in the dirt," ensuring that our products are rooted in real-world experience and needs.
A Love Affair with Lighting
Patrick's passion for lighting began in 1998 while he was still in college. Like many of you, he was captivated by the transformative power of light. The impact of lighting on design is profound, and for Patrick, it was a love affair that lasted over two decades. "I fell in love, as many of you have, with lighting and its effect," he recalls. In 2023 Patrick studied hard to become one of the few Lighting Certified landscape lighting professionals in the county.
From Designer to Innovator
Over the past 20 years, Patrick has worn many hats in the industry—from designing lighting to mastering installation techniques and running a large and successful installation business. This extensive experience has equipped him with invaluable insights and tips that he has poured into Sterling Lighting. As LED lights emerged onto the market, Patrick saw an opportunity to innovate.
"We started off first with designing light fixtures. We really looked all across the industry at what we would want in a lighting fixture," Patrick explains. The goal was simple yet profound: to create a product line that supports installation and design companies. This practical approach resonated with others in the industry, leading to the birth of Sterling Lighting.

"How difficult of an industry landscape lighting is. We wanted to come alongside and assist people to help them become successful in what they're doing," he shares.
